Jean-Luc Godard’s Le Mépris (Contempt), based on Alberto Moravia's novel Il Disprezzo, is released.   Described by the director as a film by Michelangelo Antonioni, in the style of Howard Hawks or Alfred Hitchcock, it stars Brigitte Bardot, Michel Piccoli, Jack Palance, and veteran German director Fritz Lang.
